Meet Cast Member ... Adrienne Heaslip


Adrienne is a native of Tralee and has trained with Siamsa Tíre from the age of seven. She began performing with the company in 1991, when she toured with them on a national and international level. In 2001 she became a scholarship student with the company, developing into areas in Contemporary, African and fusion Dance.  Adrienne has a Higher Diploma in Primary Education (2013), BA in Folk Theatre Studies (2005) and MA in Contemporary Dance Performance (2007). She has performed and devised many productions with Siamsa Tíre.  Adrienne has had the experience of performing in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in ‘What the folk’, Joyce SoHo Theatre NYC with Dance Theatre of Ireland in‘Every Little Step’and 'Court' by Andrew Duggan, Irish Arts Centre New York.
She was a full time member of the core company from 2006 – 2012 and still performs and teaches with the company on a part time basis. In addition to performing Adrienne teaches workshops in Irish singing, Irish dancing and Oral Irish during the Summer months. She also choreographs dance with the Oliver Hurley School of Musical Theatre part-time.

What was you favourite part to play in any show and why?
As a child in the show 'Sean agus Nua' dancing as 'An Dreóilín' and as an adult in 'Sean agus Nua' and 'Seville Suite'.

What if anything is the best thing that has happened to you since joining Siamsa?
Having the opportunity of growing up and developing a family of friends. Some have passed but their memories remain.  I have travelled the world with Siamsa and I thrive on the opportunity to teach other members and watch them prosper and perform.

If you were stranded on a deserted island and you could only have one item, what would it be?
I would have to say a person - my dad xxx

What do you do as a pastime?
Yoga and Socialising!!!
Siamsa is, was and will always be part of my life.
